When the waters come

Synopsis…Perseverance, rebirth and reflection.

Partially inspired by Noah’s Ark but through the lens of Hurricane Helene and the devastation it caused in Western North Carolina. Just a terrible event that led to some introspection.

It’s a meditative song with a couple of electric guitars swirling around that truthfully I couldn’t tell you what I was playing.

Tuning: Standard, capo 2

Lyrics:

When the waters come, I will hold on
To everything that I love
And I will make it home
To you

When the rain starts up
Maybe it will never end
But I’ll hold onto hope
As it’s the last thing
I can believe in

When waters came and left
And the darkness settles in
I’ll find the light
And let it guide me
Again

When it all washed away
I will learn to stand again
And mourn everything we lost
I will rekindle
My flame

When the waters come
And wash over my former self
I will be reborn
I will rise again
Wiser than
Before
